Frequently Asked Questions
Eye Exam FAQ’s
1. How often should I have an eye exam?
It is recommended that adults between the ages of 18 and 60 have an eye exam every two years. Children should have their first eye exam at 6 months old, again at age 3, and just before starting school. Adults over 60 should have annual eye exams. If you have certain medical conditions like diabetes or a family history of eye disease, more frequent exams may be necessary.
2. What should I bring to my eye exam?
Bring your current glasses or contact lenses, a list of any medications you are taking, and information about your medical history and any vision problems you are experiencing. If you have insurance, bring your insurance card as well.
3.What are the signs that I need an eye exam?
Signs that you may need an eye exam include blurred vision, difficulty reading, headaches, eye strain, seeing floaters or flashes of light, and difficulty seeing at night. Regular check-ups are important even if you do not have symptoms, as many eye conditions do not present noticeable symptoms in the early stages.
4.Do I need an eye exam if I don’t wear glasses or contact lenses?
Yes, even if you do not wear corrective lenses, regular eye exams are important to monitor your eye health, detect any potential problems early, and ensure your vision remains clear and healthy.
