Our retinal imaging technology allows us to see 400% more of your eyes
When you visit your optician you want to know that your eyes are being thoroughly checked, with no aspect of your vision being missed. At Eye Smile we have the technology available to see the parts of your eye that cannot be seen externally; this is called retinal photography.
The retina is a light-sensitive layer of tissue at the back of the eye which is where incoming images are processed. Damage to your retina can cause problems with your vision and severe damage can even cause blindness in some cases.
Retinal photography is a process that uses a camera to take detailed 2D images of the back of your eyes. These images are kept on file so that we can keep a note of how your eye health progresses over time.
The retinal imaging technology available at Eye Smile allows us to see up to 400% more of your eye than we could manually. Bearing this in mind, we advise that you have regular retinal photographs taken, just to make sure that everything is okay below the surface.
Retinal imaging is now seen as an important part of keeping your eyes healthy. The process itself is quick and painless so there is no need for concern. Once the photographs have been taken your optometrist will use them to assess the condition of your retina and determine if there is any damage or areas of concern.
